Addressing the skills gap

Addressing the skills gap

Over the past year or so, the whole of the fenestration industry has come to acknowledge the continuing skills gap which exists in this market, so it’s encouraging to see so many new programmes and initiatives being announced which are designed to start addressing that.

It’s obviously up to the biggest players in the market to step up and lead the way, and we’re proud to say that AluK is doing exactly that.

Our Chepstow Training Academy is one of the most impressive in the industry. Set in the heart of our production facility, it is a 3000sq ft space equipped with all the latest Emmegi machinery to reflect most typical fabrication set ups.

Here, our technical team deliver a whole programme of regular training courses aimed at designers, fabricators and installers of our aluminium window, door and curtain walling systems. Our aim is to promote best practice across the whole supply chain and we’re making it as easy as we can for our customers to acquire the skills they need.

We have just announced our schedule of courses for 2019, and they are all open to anyone using AluK products and, crucially, all are entirely free. There are more than 20 options to choose from on the fabrication and installation of our complete product range, and on designing the systems using LogiKal software. They combine product awareness with plenty of practical hands on training and tackle all the issues you might face either onsite or in the factory.

11 of the courses of the 21 courses are already GQA accredited and we expect the rest of them to be accredited by the end of 2019. You can see the full schedule here at www.alukacademy.co.uk with all the dates and times for the year ahead, and it’s quick and easy to book online.
