This Saturday, 44 AluK staff and family members brought lots of fun and laughter to the weekly Severn Bridge park run, racing, jogging, walking and even pushing a buggy along the 5km course which goes over the iconic bridge within sight of our Chepstow HQ - and back again.
It was all part of AluK’s annual Run for Life charity initiative, which, over the summer, will see AluK teams taking part in sponsored runs at as many as 11 group locations around the world, with the aim of raising €15K for breast cancer charities. AluK sites in Luxembourg, Italy, India and China have already run their races and almost €4500 is already in the pot.
The whole of the UK team really played their part, with nearly £650 pledged from a mix of AluK donations for every team member taking part and a raffle with a top prize of tickets to see George Ezra .
There were plenty of enthusiastic supporters out on the course cheering the runners on – all sporting distinctive AluK red T-shirts. And, after the race, everyone was invited back to HQ to enjoy a BBQ and family fun day in the perfect summer sunshine.
77 staff and their families were even welcomed behind the scenes of the factory and showroom for a fun and informative tour, with fascinating insight from Tony Leach about the science behind the water treatment plant and technical demos from Dave Evans showing how all our products actually work.
There was ping pong and face painting to entertain the children (and the adults!) and everyone who came along agreed they’ll be back to do it all again next year.
There is still time to make a donation to Breast Cancer Now via the AluK Just Giving page here.
