Last Saturday, it was the turn of the team here in Chepstow to take up AluK’s Run for Life challenge, which is raising money for breast cancer charities around the world.
We joined the runners taking part in the 5km Severn Bridge Park Run which goes across the iconic bridge near to our HQ (and back again!). AluK donated a £15 participation fee to Breast Cancer Now for every employee who ran, jogged or even walked the route and together we raised more than £600.
In fact, we did our best to take over the Park Run this weekend as volunteers from AluK also acted as marshalls and timekeepers, and even manned the ‘cowbell corner’ to ring the bell which tells runners to get ready for the sprint to the finish.
Family members joined in too and donated to the cause and it was a fun day for everyone, with a BBQ and open house at our Chepstow facility afterwards so that everyone could see our wonderful workplace for themselves.
AluK’s Run for Life challenge started way back in October last year with a 4km fun run for staff near to our Luxembourg head office. Since then, the virtual baton has been making its way around the world, with teams from our offices in Bangalore and Shanghai already completing their own local races and several more to come.
