Arkay Windows and its commercial arm Arkay Contractors have secured the fenestration contract for the landmark £67m Dallas Road development in Bedford - all in AluK systems.
The development, by MCR Property Group, is on a 10-acre brownfield site in Kempston just outside of Bedford town centre. 341 new homes, including one, two and three bedroom apartments and a collection of townhouses are being built as part of a vibrant new residential neighbourhood designed to attract a mix of residents, who want easy access to the A421, A1 and M1 as well as to the station for fast trains to St Pancras.
Arkay will be fabricating and installing windows, doors and curtain walling throughout the contemporary development in a mix of AluK’s C70S, 77ID, GT55 and SL52 systems.
The 70mm C70S window system is the ideal solution for this type of large scale new build project, with slim 89mm sightlines, class leading weather performance (wind 600Pa and water tightness 1500Pa), Secured by Design security accreditation and full Part L compliance.
At Dallas Road, the windows will be installed throughout the townhouses and apartment block buildings, which range from three to seven storeys. Individual entrance doors in the fully rebated 77ID system have been specified for most of the properties, with GT55 entrance doors and SL52 curtain walling used for the main facades.
The architects for the whole scheme are Coda Studios, with Pegasus Group acting as development consultants.
