AluK’s 58BW and 58BD profiles feature in a contemporary new development in Ancoats, once the heart of Manchester’s cotton industry but now one of the city’s most vibrant and creative districts, and recently named by The Times as one of the UK’s 20 coolest places to live.
The £3.7m POPworks project by Heatley Developments converted a former solicitors’ office into a mixed-use development, with commercial units on the ground floor and 28 stylish apartments on the four floors above.
The existing façade was retained and new AluK windows and doors fitted throughout the apartments with specialist acoustic glazing to reduce the heavy traffic noise from outside.
All of the frames were fabricated by AluK’s Luminia Select Partner AluFoldDirect, who worked closely with Heatley’s installation team to ensure that deliveries were phased to coordinate perfectly with the planned installation schedule.
In total, Blackburn based AluFoldDirect fabricated 160 windows and doors in AluK’s hugely popular 58BW/BD system. Finished in Anthracite grey inside and out, they helped to create the apartments’ ‘industrial chic’ look, alongside exposed brickwork and many original features.
All of the apartments were sold off plan before launch, and the project proved such a success that AluFoldDirect has gone on to work with Heatley Developments on a second Manchester project.
AluK’s 58BW windows and 58BD doors are a stylish and cost effective choice for the residential market and are available in casement, TBT, fully reversible, Heritage and now Flush options to suit both traditional and contemporary applications.
