The Rest is a landmark Grade II listed building overlooking Rest Bay, Porthcawl, which has been carefully transformed from a historic Victorian convalescent home into a modern residential development.
The windows and doors formed an important part of the refurbishment of The Rest, with the challenge of introducing modern performance while respecting the character of this historic building.
As a Grade II listed property, the design needed to carefully balance heritage requirements with the expectations of a contemporary residential development. The chosen window and door systems were selected to complement the original architecture, while providing improved thermal efficiency, security, durability and comfort for the new apartments.
The installation helped retain the character and appearance of the building, while upgrading the performance of the external envelope to meet the needs of modern living. Careful detailing and coordination with the wider project team ensured the new systems integrated seamlessly with the restored elements of the building.
