AluK’s tested, tried and trusted 58BW window system is an ideal choice for refurbishments as well as new build projects, as demonstrated by Tradeglaze at the newly opened St Giles YMCA Youth and Community Centre in Lincoln.
YMCA Lincolnshire secured £2.4m in funding from the Youth Investment Fund to transform a disused council building into this new community hub, and the finished result is stunning.
Working with the main contractors Belvin Construction, Tradeglaze supplied and installed 16 58BW windows in the centre – all in classic anthracite grey to provide a striking contrast with the brightly coloured render used on the outside of the building.
The slim 86mm sightlines and 1.4 W/m²K U-Values of the windows meant they met the project’s requirements for a contemporary aesthetic with optimal energy efficiency, and they have the added benefit that the system is PAS24 and Secured By Design security accredited.
Tradeglaze fabricated the windows at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lincoln and used its own experienced installation team to carry out the fitting. They worked closely with Belvin Construction to ensure that the project was completed on time and to the very highest standard.
The new YMCA centre will serve as a vital part of the local community in the St Giles area of Lincoln, offering essential services, activities and programmes for young people.
Jonathan Brewer, Tradeglaze’s Head of Sales, commented: “We are proud to have supported the transformation of this key community facility in Lincoln. It’s rewarding to see how our glazing solutions helped turn a disused building into a bright, secure, and modern centre that local residents can take pride in. The AluK 58BW system was the perfect choice for this project, offering slim sightlines, excellent thermal performance, and a clean, contemporary finish that complements the vibrant exterior.
“Projects like this have a lasting impact, and it’s a privilege to play a part in them. With our recent investments in aluminium production, we’re now better equipped than ever to deliver high-performance glazing for both small and large-scale developments across Lincoln and the surrounding areas.”
