JET BLACK STEEL REPLACEMENTS TRANSFORM A TRADITIONAL SEMI

The AluK Design Studio in central London is available for all of our customers to use as an extension of their own showrooms. It features full size examples of most of the products in our range and lets specifiers, trade customers and retail buyers get up close and personal with our windows, doors and even curtain walling systems.

For the owner of a property in Greenwich which was undergoing a complete refurbishment, seeing the quality of our products at the Design Studio and getting a feel for how they easily they operate is what convinced her to choose aluminium over other materials and AluK over other systems.

For the refurbishment of her 1950s semi-detached house, she chose AluK 58BW ST steel replacement windows in jet black for a stylish, contemporary look, alongside a BSC94 triple track inline sliding door.

The minimal sight lines of the 58BW ST, at just 43mm in the fixed lights, give homeowners the look of traditional steel windows with all the thermal, performance and security benefits of aluminium. They can achieve U-Values of 1.4 when double glazed or 1.2 with triple glazing and are PAS24 and Secured by Design accredited.

The BSC94 inline slider is all about maximising light, with 85mm sightlines as standard or 45mm in the slim option, and with sliding panels up to 2000mm wide and 2600mm high.

In Greenwich, the 58BW ST windows have been used throughout, creating two large bays at the front, as well as being installed at full height in the dormer at the rear. The inline slider has been installed across the full width of the ground floor extension, making the most of the views of the garden.

The installation was carried out by specialist installer 1st Scenic, based in Orpington, Kent using products manufactured by AluK’s customer Alu-Tec. Together, 1st Scenic and Alu-Tec advised the owner about the products in the AluK range which would best help her achieve her vision for the property and arranged her visit to our Worship Street Design Studio.

The owner said: “The finished look is exactly what I was hoping for. The house now has a modern, contemporary feel, which still respects its original design and character.”
